Meh not really because as shikamaru said they are jonin so basically Naruto would just be wasting Chakra because their opponents would easily defeat those shadow clones

If its a single 1 you're probably right, but i think that 1 or 200 of those might be enough

Its kind of funny how long that chain of people was. the sand village kids at the front, then Sasuke, then narutos group, then the thugs after them, and finally Asuma.

So if they knew their footprints were being used to track them, why not use Naruto's shadowclone jutsu to make a bunch of footprints to throw off the pursuers?
